Medmenham Abbey

Our entry point at Medmenham is next to the abbey ruins, once a Cistercian abbey and now a private home much desired by our group, with one member suggesting we use the membership fees to convert it into a club house. We’re going to have to increase the fees a bit though to meet the 10 million asking price!

In more recent times the abbey was home to the Hellfire Club, which Wikipedia describes as the meeting place of ‘persons of quality’who wished to take part in socially perceived immoral acts”.   We're certainly all 'persons of quality' but a skinny dip for the Summer Solstice is as immoral as HOWSC gets.

Floating in the warm summer water as the sun rises over the Thames at Medmenham is a truly uplifting experience.
